On Saturday, May 14, we were honored to watch as six AbleLight College students crossed the stage and accepted their certificates—a beautiful graduation ceremony and the culmination of a two-year journey to greater independence.
For the last two years, these students have stepped way out of their comfort zones. They’ve lived on their own for the first time. They’ve navigated new social settings. They’ve discovered jobs they love, many of them gaining their first work experience ever. They’ve proved to themselves—and to the world—what people with developmental disabilities are capable of.
It’s a privilege to be part of their journey, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll do next.
AbleLight College is a two-year postsecondary certificate program in partnership with Concordia University Wisconsin designed to help students with developmental disabilities grow personally, professionally, academically, and spiritually. And we’re expanding! Our second AbleLight College program is opening at Concordia University Ann Arbor this fall.
