The year 2021 has proven to be one of both challenges and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As the year comes to a close, it’s time to take a look back at the stories and trends that mattered most.

Mother’s Day is upon us, and this year, we want to pay a special tribute to all the moms of children with disabilities.

In honor of National Autism Acceptance Month, we’d like to take the opportunity to lay out the basics of autism spectrum disorder and, more importantly, dispel the widely held myths about this complex developmental disability.

Media has the power to shape our perception, making it vital that we all see characters with intellectual and developmental disabilities represented fairly and authentically. We discuss the issue here and get you started with a list of 50 books featuring characters with disabilities.
