Since opening our doors in 1904 to support five individuals, we’ve grown into a nationwide organization dedicated to empowering people with developmental disabilities. Today, over 120 years later, we’re proud to operate in states across the country—including right here in California.
AbleLight Services
AbleLight provides the following services in Northern California:
Group Homes (Congregate Living)
AbleLight’s group homes in California provide 24-hour residential care for adults with developmental disabilities. In these small homes, typically supporting four to six residents, individuals receive personalized care while building independence, developing life skills, and engaging in their local communities.
Intermediate Care Facilities (Congregate Living)
AbleLight’s Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) in California provide a higher level of residential care for adults with developmental disabilities who have more complex support needs. With nursing oversight, assistance with personal care and health management, and access to specialized therapies, ICFs offer comprehensive services in a structured setting designed to support overall well-being.
Supported Living Services
Across California, AbleLight’s Supportive Living Services are designed for adults with developmental disabilities who want to live independently with consistent, personalized support. Individuals receive assistance with daily living, goal setting, and community participation.
Independent Living Services
AbleLight’s Independent Living Services in California provide targeted support for adults with developmental disabilities who need minimal assistance while living on their own. Focused on building and maintaining essential life skills, these services help individuals manage daily routines, finances, and community involvement while maintaining independence.
Coordinated Family Support
AbleLight’s Coordinated Family Support services in California help adults with developmental disabilities remain connected to their families and support networks while accessing the resources they need to thrive. Through personalized coordination and guidance, individuals and caregivers receive support tailored to their unique goals, needs, and circumstances.
Employment Supports
AbleLight’s Employment Supports in California help adults with developmental disabilities pursue meaningful work and build long-term career paths. Through personalized guidance, individuals receive support with job exploration, skill development, and on-the-job success, helping them grow in confidence, gain independence, and find purpose through employment within their communities.
Representative Payee Services
Across California, AbleLight’s Representative Payee Services help adults with developmental disabilities manage their benefits and maintain financial security. Through structured oversight of income and expenses, individuals are supported in meeting essential needs while building confidence in managing their finances.
