October Marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to celebrate the talents, contributions, and accomplishments of people with disabilities in the workforce. It is also an opportunity to recognize the importance of creating workplaces where every individual has the chance to pursue their goals, share their skills, and grow in meaningful ways.

At AbleLight, we see every day how meaningful employment can open doors. Whether it’s building confidence, developing new skills, earning greater independence, or pursuing a long-held dream, employment can play an important role in helping people create the lives they want for themselves. Through Employment Supports and employment opportunities at AbleLight Thrift Shop, individuals with developmental disabilities are building careers, reaching milestones, and discovering new possibilities.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing stories and content that highlight the impact of meaningful employment and celebrate individuals who are pursuing their ambitions, growing in their careers, and creating opportunities for themselves and their families. These stories remind us that every person brings unique talents, perspectives, and gifts to the workplace.

As we celebrate NDEAM, we invite you to join us in recognizing the value of inclusive employment and the achievements of workers with disabilities. Happy National Disability Employment Awareness Month!
