Board Advisor and Past President of Bethesda Auxiliary Elected as Director
(Watertown, Wis.) – Bethesda’s Board of Directors has elected Karen Carter as a director to the Board. Carter has been an advisory director to Bethesda’s Board since 2015 and served as past president of the Bethesda Auxiliary Governing Board.
“We are so fortunate to have Karen supporting Bethesda’s mission,” said Mike Thirtle, Ph.D., president and CEO of Bethesda. “Karen’s lifelong support of the Lutheran Church and her stewardship of the Bethesda Auxiliary has established a strong network of supporters across the country. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire Bethesda leadership team, we welcome Karen to the Board and look forward to her continued, valuable contributions to the organization.”
Carter is the former volunteer coordinator at Riverfront, Inc. and the Chippewa Valley Museum. Her career has included Lutheran camp counselor, children’s librarian, director and teacher in private and Lutheran early childhood settings. She has served on numerous church and civic boards and committees and is the past president of the Bethesda Auxiliary Governing Board.
“I have been blessed to work with pastors, teachers and other men and women of faith as we share the joy, love and saving grace of Jesus Christ,” said Carter. “I am pleased to now join Bethesda’s Board as we forge Bethesda’s bright future.”
Carter’s affiliation with the Lutheran ministry has been a lifelong pursuit: She was baptized, confirmed and married in her hometown LCMS church where her parents were members, and she has been an organist in LCMS churches since her teen years. Carter holds an associate degree from Concordia and bachelor’s degree in Early Child Development from Warner Pacific.
