AbleLight recently completed a $277,145 transportation project with support from the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) through the Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (EMSD) program.
The grant helped fund three new ADA-accessible Ford Transit vans, which were delivered in July 2026 to replace aging vehicles serving AbleLight’s residential homes in Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, and Lake Forest, California.
These vehicles provide safe, reliable transportation for adults with developmental disabilities who rely on AbleLight’s support. They help individuals supported to attend medical appointments, participate in outings, shop for everyday necessities, and enjoy community connections.
For individuals who face barriers to traditional public transportation, having accessible vehicles available at homes creates greater opportunities for independence, connection, and meaningful participation in community life.
This investment will strengthen AbleLight’s transportation services for years to come and help ensure the people supported can get where they need to go.
