Letter from Keith Jones
It has been a historic year at AbleLight and I am so very happy to be a part of this amazing team. The main reason I joined AbleLight in January was for the opportunity to be part of something that brings meaningful services and support to a group of people who are truly underserved. It is an absolute privilege to work alongside our many talented employees who are focused each and every day on the people we support and be a part of their lives.
AbleLight has made a difference in people’s lives for over 100 years. We have a rich tradition rooted in our Christian mission. We are driven by the belief that the world shines brighter when people with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve their full potential. This belief led us to change our name to AbleLight earlier this year, a name chosen to reflect the many skills and talents of people with disabilities, while also demonstrating how the organization will be a guiding light for people with disabilities and the field as a whole.
We wouldn’t be able to deliver these important services without a collection of effort that deserves recognition. First our team members, especially our direct support professionals who tirelessly work to provide day-to-day support for the people we serve. Our donors, supporters and partners, who selflessly help fund our services. Finally, our Board of Directors, who provide insights that challenge us to perform at the top. Without each of you, AbleLight couldn’t do what we do every day. You each play a vital role that makes a meaningful difference and because of your collective efforts we have been able to make the impact described here.
Our future is bright, and we have a lot to look forward to as we work to help more people with intellectual and developmental disabilities shine. During the next year, we are excited to be focusing more of our efforts on residential services. You will read more about this here and in the future.
I hope you enjoy reading this report and are inspired by the people we are here to serve and the entire AbleLight community that helps them thrive. Thank you for your belief in our mission and your ongoing support!
