Skylar’s Journey in AbleLight’s Shared Living Program

Skylar lives with his grandmother through AbleLight’s Shared Living (Family Caregiver) program, allowing him to thrive in a familiar and supportive environment. When Skylar’s grandfather, who had been his primary caregiver, passed away earlier this year, the transition was difficult. But with the help of AbleLight, Skylar and his grandmother are learning to adjust and cope. 

AbleLight stepped up to take over as Skylar’s representative payee, helping with financial management and ensuring that Skylar continues to receive the support he needs. He also attends the AbleLight Day Program, where he enjoys participating in activities and building connections. 

With AbleLight’s ongoing assistance, Skylar is growing more independent, continuing to enjoy his favorite activities while receiving the care and guidance he needs. His grandmother is grateful for AbleLight’s support, saying “it gives me peace of mind knowing that someone will care and be there for Skylar.”

Through AbleLight’s Shared Living program, Skylar’s life if filled with love, stability, and opportunity.
