Denver Bocce Field Day Introduces New Opportunity for Inclusive Participation

AbleLight’s Denver community recently hosted a Bocce Field Day in partnership with Special Olympics Colorado, bringing people together to learn the sport in an inclusive, non-competitive environment. The event welcomed individuals with developmental disabilities interested in trying bocce for the first time or building on existing experience.

Special Olympics Colorado team members were on site to introduce the basics of bocce and lead a practice session, giving participants the opportunity to learn the game through hands-on participation. The event focused on creating an accessible and welcoming space where all abilities could take part.

The Bocce Field Day also marked an early step in forming an AbleLight Special Olympics bocce team. Events like this help build interest, encourage participation, and create opportunities for connection through shared activity.
