AbleLight is proud to share that Cassidy Eckert has been recognized as a 2026 Direct Support Professional of the Year honoree representing the state of Oregon by ANCOR, a national leader representing community-based disability service providers.
Each year, ANCOR recognizes Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) from across the country who demonstrate excellence in supporting people with developmental disabilities. This national recognition highlights professionals who bring compassion, consistency, and leadership to their work every day.
Cassidy’s approach reflects what this work is all about. She is known for her strong relationships, her attention to each person’s goals and preferences, and her ability to create opportunities for growth in everyday moments. Whether supporting someone at home or in the community, Cassidy brings energy, respect, and a steady commitment to helping people build meaningful lives.
Her leadership continues to grow as she supports both the people in her care and the teams around her. She remains closely connected to daily support while helping others develop their skills and confidence, reflecting both experience and genuine care for others.
This recognition also reflects the broader impact of DSPs. Across the country, DSPs play a vital role in helping people with developmental disabilities build lives of belonging, independence, and opportunity within their communities.
Cassidy will be honored later this month at ANCOR Connect ’26, where DSPs from across the country will be recognized for their contributions to the field.
You can view Cassidy’s feature and learn more about this year’s honorees in ANCOR’s Recognizing Excellence digital booklet.
We are grateful for Cassidy and for the many DSPs whose dedication makes this work possible every day.
