AbleLight leadership and Board members experience camp alongside individuals supported
AbleLight Camp is about creating opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to build friendships, try new activities, and make lasting memories. Recently, individuals supported from Denver, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction came together for the first Colorado camp session of the summer at Lutheran Valley Retreat.
Throughout the week, campers embraced new experiences and longtime favorites, including horseback riding, archery, axe throwing, zip lining, fishing, hiking, karaoke, arts and crafts, games and more. The days were filled with laughter, encouragement, and opportunities to connect with one another in a supportive and welcoming environment.
While camp is packed with fun activities, its impact extends far beyond a single week. Campers build confidence, strengthen friendships, and discover new interests while experiencing a sense of belonging that continues long after camp ends.
Members from our Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors joined camp during the week, participating in activities and experiencing firsthand the connections, growth, and community that make this experience so meaningful.
AbleLight is grateful to everyone who helped make the first camp session of the summer possible, including our sponsors—Developmental Pathways and Cathi’s Table, Lutheran Valley Retreat, our youth group volunteers, and the amazing AbleLight team members who helped create an unforgettable week.
