AbleLight team members in Colorado recently brought both purpose and playfulness to the Pueblo Resource Fair, hosted by The Resource Exchange. With Halloween spirit and heartfelt outreach, the team connected individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to essential services and support.
Rather than setting up a traditional booth, our team embraced the spirit of the season. The “Hocus Pocus” trio—Area Director Cathy Bradbury, Supported Employment Manager Sherree Perez, and Employment Specialist Jerrica Terwilliger—brought magic to the event, engaging visitors with charm and curiosity. They were joined by Blanca Perez and Kim Thomas, Residential Managers who added cheer and color to the day as a bunny and a butterfly, along with Area Director Peggy MacKenzie, who anchored the team as a friendly pumpkin.
“The costumes lowered barriers, sparked joy, and helped people feel comfortable approaching us,” said Peggy MacKenzie. “We had authentic conversations, shared vital information, and built trust in person.”
“Our participation reinforces our commitment to our community,” said Cathy Bradbury. “It shows that our team is willing to meet people where they are, in creative, human, and accessible ways.”
Resource fairs like Pueblo’s serve as vital access points for individuals and families navigating disability services. For AbleLight, it was a chance to live out our mission in the community, meeting people where they are and advocating for inclusion in a creative and compassionate way.
We are grateful to The Resource Exchange in Pueblo for hosting the event and proud of our team for turning a simple outreach table into something truly memorable.
