Since opening our doors in 1904 to support five individuals, we’ve grown into a nationwide organization dedicated to empowering people with developmental disabilities. Today, over 120 years later, we’re proud to operate in 11 states across the country—including right here in Eastern Missouri.

Host Homes (Shared Living)
AbleLight’s Shared Living (Host Homes) arrangements empower people with developmental disabilities in the St. Louis area by providing a personalized approach to support. This unique living arrangement offers the warmth and comfort of a family home, fostering social skills, independence, and overall well-being. By becoming part of a loving family, individuals can experience the joy of belonging to a community.
At AbleLight, we believe in finding the best fit. We carefully match individuals with caring families who share their interests and values. Providers offer personalized support, encouraging personal growth, independence, and lasting relationships. AbleLight equips providers with training and resources to create a nurturing, supportive environment. This collaborative approach uplifts individuals to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives with their communities.
Independent Supported Living Assistance (Supported Living)
AbleLight’s Supported Living Services around the greater St. Louis area empower people with developmental disabilities to live independently in their own homes or apartments. With tailored supports designed to allow individuals to make choices, build relationships, and live on their own, they can embrace greater freedom and autonomy.
We create personalized support plans to help those supported achieve their goals. By providing assistance with daily living skills, we help individuals live independently and connect with their community. Our personalized approach supports people with developmental disabilities to live their best lives.
Representative Payee Services
AbleLight serves as a trusted financial manager, receiving and allocating benefits on behalf of individuals to cover essential expenses like housing, food, and medical care while also considering personal goals. Our approach provides financial security while equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions.
